Suitable for producing butt welds in the flat (downhand) position and fillet welds in both flat and horizontal positions. Compatible materials include mild and medium carbon-manganese steels up to 15mm thick with a maximum UTS of 500 N/mm². Typical material grades include:

• BS 1449 (plate and sheet)
• BS 4360 (grades 43A, 43C, and grade 50B)
• Lloyd’s Ship Steel (grades A, D, AH, and DH)
• BS 3059 and BS 3601 (grade 320-410)
• API 5L (grades A, B, and X42).
